DRILLING SOLUTION

Project Mission

The mission of the Swan River Crossings project is to:

  • Facilitate the construction of essential infrastructure for the Swan River Crossings.
  • Conduct comprehensive geotechnical drilling and testing to gather crucial data for engineering design.
  • Ensure the structural integrity and stability of the crossings amidst dynamic river conditions.
  • Implement innovative solutions to overcome challenges posed by the project’s unique environment.

“Soil Mechanics showcases large-scale capabilities for both nearshore and land-based drilling with WSP and the Fremantle bridge alliance for the Swan River Crossings project.”

Key Objectives:

  • Infrastructure Construction: Facilitate the construction of bridge crossings over the Swan River.

  • Geotechnical Data Collection: Conduct extensive drilling and testing to gather essential data for engineering design and construction.

  • Safety and Stability: Ensure the safety and stability of the crossings amidst dynamic river conditions and fast-flowing tidal movements.

  • Innovation and Adaptation: Implement innovative solutions to overcome challenges posed by working amongst bridge piers and fast-flowing tidal movements.

The Challenge of Project:

The Swan River Crossings project faces the following challenges:

  • Conducting drilling operations amidst bridge piers and between rail and traffic bridges.
  • Dealing with fast-flowing tidal movements and dynamic river conditions.
  • Coordinating a dynamic work front utilising self-elevating jack-up barges, marsh buggies, and supporting vessels.
  • Ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment in challenging working environments.
